오늘 gotfrag.com 과 steampowered.com의 포럼에서 올라온 정보입니다.
제가 해본 결과 15-70 사이이던 fps가 40-100 정도로 향상되더군요. 어떤 콘피그 수정을 해줘도 fps 향상이 안되었었는데, 1.5버전 때와 같은 fps를 갖게 되서 정말 기쁩니다.

이 팀이 도움이 되는 이유는 steam의 실수로 오래된 버전의 opengl을 사용하기 때문이라고 합니다. 즉, 그래픽카드 드라이버를 설치하신 분이라면 그 드라이버 설치 때 만들어진 opengl의 dll 파일이 더 새로운 버전이라는거죠. 우리가 할 일은 드라이버에서 설치된 새로운 openGL32.dll을 찾는 겁니다.(이름은 다를 수 있지만)

일단 windows 디렉토리의 system 디렉토리 혹은 system32 디렉토리에서 밑의 파일들을 찾습니다. (윈nt, xp는 아마 system32일거구, 98이하는 system 일 듯. 잘 찾아보세요)

Detonator 사용자(geforce 계열 카드): nvoglnt.dll 이나 nv4_disp.dll
(해봤는데 두 파일 다 되더군요. 두 가지 사이의 fps차이는 잘 못 느끼겠음)

일반 사용자: openGL32.dll 

Ati 사용자: atioglxx.dll 

위의 파일들을 찾았으면 그 파일을 복사해서 counter-strike의 gldrv 폴더에 복사해주어야합니다.
counter-strike폴더를 찾습니다.
대개는 Steam/SteamApps/user@mailaddress/counter-strike

gldrv 폴더에 보면 3dfxgl.dll 이라는 파일과 drvmap.txt 라는 파일이 있을 겁니다.
이 폴더에 여러분이 복사한 파일을 붙여넣으세요.

그 다음에 drvmap.txt 파일을 엽니다.

Default Default
gldrv/3dfxgl.dll openGL Driver

이런 식으로 되어있을 겁니다.
이것을

Default Default
gldrv/새로복사한파일이름.dll openGL Driver

과 같이 바꿔주세요.

그 다음에 counter-strike을 시작하시면 아마도 1.5버전과 같은 수준의 fps을 경험하실 수 있을 겁니다.

저에게 큰 도움이 되어서 급하게 적어 올립니다.
원래대로 되돌리고 싶으시면 gldrv폴더에 새로 복사한 .dll 파일을 지우시고 drvmap.txt를 원래대로 고쳐주면 됩니다.

아참! 그리고 아마 tnt 정도로 오래된 그래픽카드를 사용하시는 경우 steam자체의 openGL과 버전 차이가 거의 없어서 별 향상이 없을 수도 있습니다.

일단,

커널 설정에 PCMCIA 설정이 있어야합니다.

(general setup에서 추가,

X20에서는 CF슬롯이 PCMCIA로 되어 있다는군요 '_'a)


또, 특이하게(...원래 그런건지도 ~_~;;;)

X20에서는 CF카드를 마운트하면 IDE 디스크로 인식을 한다는군요.

그래서 혹시나 하는 마음에 ide,ata,atapi block devices부분에

PCMCIA ide 지원을 추가합니다. 


이제,

pcmcia-cs 패키지를 설치합니다.

(또 다른 pcmcia 프로그램이 있는지는 모르겠습니다만 '_'a;;;

일단 이것으로 ~_~)


제 경우엔 젠투 리눅스라서

간단히

# emerge sys-apps/pcmcia-cs

하여 설치했습니다.


PCMCIA 지원이 추가된 커널로 재부팅을 한 후,

설치한 pcmcia 프로그램을 띄워주죠.

(제 경우엔 역시 젠투라 -_=

# /etc/init.d/pcmcia start

하여 launch~)


이제는 CF카드를 원하는 위치에 마운트하기만 하면 됩니다.

(/dev/hde1으로 잡히더군요)


# mount /dev/hde1 /mnt/cf -t vfat


참고로,

제가 쓰는 디지털카메라(캐논 IXUS-v)는 CF카드를 Windows의 FAT16으로 포맷하기 때문에,

vfat으로 마운트해야합니다. (아마 대부분이 그러하리라 생각하긴 하지만 ~_~;;)


리눅스에서 X20으로 CF카드를 쓰시는 분이 별로 없으신지

검색을 해봐도 찾기가 힘들더군요 ;);;


그러다가 외국 사이트에서 "X20의 CF리더가 PCMCIA이다,

마운트하면 IDE장치로 인식된다"...라는 문서를 발견하고 시도해봤습니다 :P~
